Various Types of Overhead Cranes

A crane is a mechanical device needed for heavy work. Used when large and heavy objects have to be moved from one place to another.

This is mainly used at construction sites, but can also be used for other purposes such as garbage, waste, factories, and similar areas. Grove mobile cranes consist of three main parts – hoist, wire and bundle.

Cranes can be of various types depending on needs and uses. Various types of cranes are listed below:

Bridge cranes

Bridge cranes are mounted on metal beams that run along the ceiling of the factory or warehouse. It takes two strong side beams, a cart that moves with it and carries loads, and an elevator, which is used to lift and lower objects.

Monorail crane

This is a simpler type of crane than an overhead crane. In contrast to the latter, they work on a single rail mounted on the ceiling. It works with a forklift. It can move remotely or from a car that moves behind the truck.

Jeep crane

This crane is very compact and efficient for smaller workplaces with limited space. One end is attached to something that is still, like a wall. Hinges are provided so that the tap can rotate indoors. The distance traveled is quite short at around 20 feet. They carry lighter loads.

Gantry crane

This crane is a modern modification of overhead crane. The rail where they are running is installed on the floor. Therefore, they can carry heavy loads up to 350 tons. You have access to deep water. They are mainly used for loading and unloading of goods and are therefore located in ports and ports.
